Tangse Floods. 11 March, 2011
On the 11th of March 2011, severe flooding and landslides caused considerable damage in the Tangse District. Several villages were affected, recording loss of lives, property, crops and land. Immediately following news of the disaster, FBA dispatched a team to the affected areas to deliver basic emergency relief. The team reached the poskos in the early evening. Liaising with local people, the team, decided to walk overnight to one of the villages that had not yet been reached by emergency services. Together with local villagers and PMI volunteers, FBA was able to deliver basic emergency relief quickly and assess damage and needs for further interventions.

English Classes
Everyone at FBA recognises the importance of working cross-culturally and the need to work in an increasingly globalised village. In addition, many FBA staff plan to partake in further studies overseas. As a result, all FBA staff have committed some of their after-hours time to study and improve their English.
The classes run twice a week; one for basic English, and one for intermediate. They are conducted by FBA staff with the assistance of native English speakers volunteering at FBA. While the classes cover conversational English, vocab, grammar and culture, they are informal and not aimed at English examination or IETLTS testing.
